Nomad has gone F2P!

Nomad has gone F2P! You now no longer need to pay for the game and you enjoy all of the features and future updates of Nomad for free! With this update also comes many changes to the game including player skins!

Nomad Premium

You can now buy the new DLC Nomad Premium for 14 new in game skins and a colored name in all servers.

Full Patch Notes

– Nomad is now free to play
– Premium dlc has been added
– You can no longer use size tag in server names
– Fixed markup in steam names
– You can now customise your player skin in the customise menu
– Added new player skins
– Optimized foundations so they no longer check distance on start up and will no longer disable all colliders in a loop
– Optimized and cleaned up ragdolls and the way they spawn
– Server config will now check for stupidly high values such as 100k zombies and adjust accordingly

Here is the list that we found. Some bugs were reported by you guys.

  • BUG: Headless and Armless after playing [!]
  • BUG: Respawn via menu [x]
  • BUG: Torches bugging through shadowbody [x]
  • BUG: Bow: 40 arrows, if you add 5 others it will reset to 0/0 arrows [?]
  • BUG: Falling through the floor randomly [!]
  • BUG: Ladders [x]
  • BUG: Rested bug (remains when outside trigger) [x]
  • BUG: Jumping on campfire doesn’t hurt you [x]
  • BUG: Incorrect number of wood spawning from trees [!]
  • CHANGE: Other player’s and animal’s dead bodies collides with player [x]
  • BUG: Drops double loot on equipmentList and inventoryList [x]
  • BUG: Spawning with broken legs [x]

Damage reduction is in the game.

HOW DAMAGE REDUCTION WORKS

Damage reduction works by equipping clothing items to each clothing slot (hat, body, legs and shoes).

Wearing no clothes (naked) will result in a minus damage reduction (you will take more damage!). Once you take off all your clothes, it will have a -40% damage reduction.

HOW DAMAGE REDUCTION IS CALCULATED

Damage reduction is calculated by adding all your clothing slot’s damage reduction together to give a total percentage of damage reduction.

(damage reduction = legs-reduction + body-reduction + shoe-reduction + hat-reduction)

DAMAGE REDUCTION ITEMS

  • Normals Hats: +2.5%
  • Riot Hat: +10%
  • Hard Hat: 7%
  • No Hat: 0%
  • Normal Body Items: +2.5%
  • Ripped T-Shirt (Starting T-Shirting): 0%
  • No Legs: -20%
  • Normal Leg Items: +2.5%
  • Ripped Jeans (Starting Jeans): 0%
  • No Legs: -20%
  • Normal Shoes: +2.5%
  • No Shoes: 0%

It’s mostly world design and character fixes!

WEAPONS

I’m now transitioning all the weapons to the new weapon system. This will take some time but will give a better experience. The new weapon system works with the new inventory system, where players can now unequip and drop their weapons.

There is now only 1 weapon slot, down from 2.

You can also pick up and store weapons right inside of the inventory, it no longer uses the weapon slots.

Here is a list of all the weapons that have been updated to the new system:

  • Wooden Sword
  • Hunting Bow
  • Fire Axe
  • Torch
  • Heckler 5
  • Wrench

NEW WEAPON: PITCH FORK

We had to include a pitch fork. Here it is!

THE MAP SO FAR

CHARACTER UV

The main character’s UV has been fixed, it no longer has edges or caps on the corners. The left arm and foot UV has been flipped to allow for capes.

CHARACTER SKIN

If you are interested in developing your own skin to be put into the game you can download the UV here (blank) and here (example)

There is no tool to preview the skin on our model right now, but we’re planning on making one soon.

We would like you to keep the player face so it stays consistent with the other skins.

A big update!

NEW WEAPON: WRENCH

The wrench has been added into the game.

And here it is for the FPS view:

FIRE AXE

The fire axe has been retextured.

INDUSTRIAL SPAWNS

Industrial spawns are now in the game and have a separate loot table.

NEW INVENTORY SCREEN

The inventory screen has been updated. The crafting menu has been moved to its own crafting screen. The inventory now comes with “Equipped” screen, it shows what your player has equipped.

You can unequip and drop items from this new menu.

Here is the new crafting menu. Its cleaner and can be opened by the ` button.

BACK PACK SYSTEM

I’ve been working hard to get the back pack system into the game. It’s now working, yay! Here are some back packs you can get in the game. Some back packs also come in different colour variants.

SAVING

I started to work on the saving system. This system will save your inventory items, current weapons, position, hp, food and drink. Right now I have the basics down, it currently only saves position, food, drink and HP. Inventory items will follow soon!

FALLING FAILSAFE

Hate when you somehow bug through the floor and your player keeps failing? Well, I’ve added a failsafe to Nomad, so if you somehow fall through the floor, you will be teleported to a random spawn point (you won’t die and be forced to respawn).

BIRDS

Birds will now only come out in the day. They will delete when it gets dark.

Tents, camp sites and starting the player building.

TENTS/CAMPSITES

Georgina has been busy modelling the new tent model. There are now camp sites within Nomad, dotted around the map.

PLAYER BUILDING

Player building is now being planned and designed. It will be ready to be developed and implemented into the game within a few days. As I will be focusing on player building, the dev blog will mostly be quiet for a few days. Unless one of the team members have made something.

It’s the weekend but we still work, a little!

FIRST PERSON TEXTURE CHANGES

Your first person textures on your hands will now changed based on the costume you are wearing.

Holding a Storm rifle whilst wearing the Pirate costume.

Holding the Storm rifle whilst wearing the Phantom Nanosuit. Yes, you can scale houses if you wear the nanosuit.

BUG FIXES & CHANGES

Sniper rifles will no longer have a bugged sound playing.

You can now adjust your AIMED sensitivity.
